Topics in Biomedical Optics

Submission Deadline: August 1, 2008

This feature issue highlights the topics featured at the 2008 Optical Society of America Biomedical Topical Meeting. The topics covered included:

  • Methods for diffuse optical imaging and tomography
  • Methods for optical spectroscopy and spectroscopic imaging
  • Optical coherence tomography
  • Optical microscopy techniques
  • Optical therapeutics
  • Optics in diagnostics and clinical translation
  • Optics in molecular and small animal imaging
  • Optics in neuroscience
  • Photonic biomedical nanotechnology

Authors are encouraged to submit multimedia supplemental material such as movie files, color figures, audio files, or three-dimensional rendering files with their manuscript. This material will be archived on the web with retrieval instructions provided in the published paper. Articles accepted for the feature issue will also appear in the new Virtual Journal for Biomedical Optics.

Manuscripts must be prepared according to the usual standards for submission to Applied Optics; see the Information for Contributors in any printed issue or the OSA Style Guide (http://ao.osa.org/submit/style/jrnls_style.cfm).

Manuscripts must also be uploaded through OSA's electronic submission system, located in the Applied Optics website (http://ao.osa.org/journal/ao/author.cfm). Please submit all papers to the Biomedical Optics division of Applied Optics and please specify that the manuscript is for the Topics in Biomedical Optics feature (choose from the feature issue drop-down menu).
