Abstract
We report on the high-power and efficient operation of a Ho:YAG laser wing-band-pumped by a Tm:fiber laser at 1933 nm. Using an output coupler of 10% transmission, maximum continuous-wave (CW) output power of 24.2 W at 2124 nm was generated under 42.6 W of absorbed pump power, corresponding to slope efficiency with respect to absorbed pump power of 57.6%. The operating wavelength of the Ho:YAG laser centered at 2092 or 2124 nm depending on different resonator designs. Prospects for further improvement in laser performance with this wing-pump configuration are discussed.
