Fast algorithm for implementing the minimum-negativity constraint for Fourier spectrum extrapolation

Abstract

A new algorithm has been developed for the numerical solution of the nonlinear equations resulting from the minimum-negativity constraint that requires far less computer memory and central processing unit time than previous methods successfully used to produce converging solutions. This technique has been effectively applied to synthetic OH and CO2 infrared spectral lines that were obtained from Fourier transformation of the finite interferogram.
